Little ones will love learning spatial concepts, such as “front” and “back” and “top” and “bottom”, through solving puzzles!

Preparing the Puzzles:

Print the puzzle boards (pgs 3-4) out single sided, laminate, and cut on dashed lines. Print out puzzles single sided, laminate, and cut out on lines. You may wish to put Velcro dots on the puzzle board and the backs of puzzle pieces to make the puzzle pieces stay put.

 

Using the Puzzles:

Give the student pieces to one puzzle and the appropriate puzzle board. As the student places pieces in their correct position, help the student by labeling the concepts (“front”, “top”, etc.). Once the student has completed the puzzle, you can target receptive language by having him/her identify the concepts by pointing, or expressive language by labeling the concepts.
